After first coming to Ireland to play as an overseas professional for YMCA, Harare-born 'PJ' made the move permanent after a chance conversation with then Ireland coach, Graham Ford, in 2019 when he mentioned his Irish roots.
Having made the decision to push for an Ireland spot, PJ completed his three-year stand down period and became eligible for Ireland in 2022 - and he shortly after made his Test debut for Ireland against Bangladesh in early 2023.
PJ was marked out for higher honours at an early age in the country of his birth, and represented Zimbabwe at two youth World Cups in 2008 and 2010. He represented Zimbabwe in eight Tests, 49 ODIs and 21 T20Is before switching allegiance to Ireland, for whom he was eligible through his Irish grandmother.
