STORMONT, Belfast – The Northern Knights won the Rario Inter-Provincial Cup for the first time since 2013 after their final match against North West Warriors was abandoned due to heavy rain in Belfast.
Following their Rario Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy success earlier in the season, the Knights completed the double for the first time in their history.
Earlier in the day – and with much better weather – the Warriors posted 241-9 from their 50 overs, with Ireland international Stephen Doheny scoring 79 off 97 balls.
However, after just nine overs of the Knights reply the rain came; and despite a gallant effort by the groundstaff to get the match back underway, the match had to be abandoned.
The result meant that both side received two points apiece – enough for the Knights to overhaul Leinster Lightning and claim the 2023 Inter-Provincial Cup title.
