Meet the coaches and support staff for Ireland Men's squad.
Malan joined Cricket Ireland in 2022. A right-handed middle-order batter and medium-fast bowler, he played first-class cricket in South Africa between 2005 and 2009.
Since finishing his playing career, Malan has gained more than 11 years first-class coaching experience in South Africa and New Zealand. He holds a Level 3 Coaching Certificate from Cricket South Africa, and amongst his more recent roles have seen him take on Assistant Coach and Fielding Lead for the New Zealand Men’s cricket team and Head Coach of New Zealand A. He has also held the batting coach role for the Black Caps.
Appointed to role in 2021, Wilson is a former Irish international T20I captain played 292 times for Ireland. He was appointed North West Warriors head coach in 2021 and led the side to Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy success last year. Wilson has captained and coached at both Derbyshire County Cricket Club and Surrey County Cricket Club, and has been seconded as an assistant coach since September 2021. He will take up the role of High Performance Batting and Wicketkeeping Coach immediately.
Appointed to role in 2021, Eagleson is a former Irish international seam bowler played for Ireland 65 times, and had stints with Derbyshire, Essex and Glamorgan in the English county system. He has been the Ireland Under-19 head coach – taking multiple squads to Under-19 World Cups, and is one of a few coaches in Ireland with the ECB Level 4 qualification. He has also been the Performance and Pathway coach for the National Academy programme since 2009, and has been seconded as Lead Bowling Coach since September 2021. He will take up the role of High Performance Pace Bowling Coach immediately.
Appointed to the role in January 2024, Brown is a former Lancashire CCC professional who played 1st Class and List A cricket both in the UK and overseas.
Since finishing his playing career in 2018, Brown has worked as a Spin Bowling Consultant with the ECB and has had roles with England Young Lions, England & England Lions, Cricket Scotland at the ICC T20 World Cups in 2021 & 2022, Nottinghamshire CCC and the Zimbabwe National XI. He holds the ECB Level IV coaching qualification and delivers the Spin Programme on both the ECB’s Level 3 & Level 4 Spin Modules.
Appointed in August 2018, Mark was Glamorgan Cricket’s Head of Science and Medicine and Lead Physiotherapist prior to joining Cricket Ireland. He has over 13 years of clinical experience working with elite level athletes, including at the Welsh Institute of Sport. In 2017-2018 has was also in charge of the England Lions Science and Medicine team, where he led on managing the medical and musculoskeletal needs of the next generation of senior England cricketers.
Appointed to the role in 2011, Brendan oversees all aspects of Performance Services Support across Men’s, Women’s and Pathway programme.
Prior to this role Brendan worked in Elite GAA and for Ulster University in a Sport Science / Strength & Conditioning capacity.
Appointed to the role in 2015, Scott holds a degree in Sport & Exercise Science from Ulster University.
Having represented Ireland at Youth level, Scott moved into coaching at a young age and held positions coaching various Ireland Youth Teams before moving into Performance Analysis.
Scott got involved with Cricket Ireland during an internship as part of his university degree, before moving into a Full-Time role after finishing his studies. He now works as the National Lead for Performance Analysis, working primarily with the Men’s National Team.
Appointed to the role in February 2015, Chris holds a degree in Sport, Health and Exercise Science and Postgrad in Secondary Education.
A former Secondary school PE teacher, he is a qualified coach in several sports and coached extensively in youth and development cricket at both Durham CC and in Ireland prior to starting with Cricket Ireland.
Prior to starting in his current role, Chris was a Super Series head coach with the Scorchers and national selector for Ireland Women's team.
